Thinking about just renting a hotel room in Squamish the nights of the 22nd and 23rd and meeting you fools in the village before the lifts open on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Cisco training ends on Thursday the 21st, so I may still try to get my ass to Whistler...

Too bad we didn't get in a run yesterday. Good energy with the guys I was riding with. Almost did the second right-side Chorus jump yesterday after hitting the first one about 5 times. Next trip it's mine. My birthday is next Sunday, so I figure that's a decent present to myself...

Maybe. Looking for my sleeping bag, don't have my tent anymore, and Noah is borrowing my truck to move, so can't drive to the top, and no one has called back regarding carpooling out, so we'll see. I'll be riding tomorrow morning in any case...

Just did the math: Silver Star Mountain Bike Park in Vernon, BC is actually 12 miles shorter of a drive than Whistler until Sea to Sky Highway opens back up, so it's actually cheaper to go to Kelowna, eh...

I have a $3,000 Cisco VoIP class for work from Aug 18th-21nd in Lake O, so looks like I'll miss the Whistler trip after all. Judging by the recent Hwy 1 reroute via Abbotsford to get there, you might as well just go to Kamloops!!

Even if I don't make the overnight hoo-hah shimmy-sham-shally, I'll be out bright and early to send it on Saturday.

What do you think?

Still need to figure out my sleeping arrangement, though. Lost my tent...

Anyone riding this weekend?

robholio wrote

Rub-holio? Bite your tongue!! I may talk a lot, but I ride more often and actually hit jumps, so he doesn't qualify.

Hell, for that matter, I'm Irish and 14 years older than Rob McCarthy, so I guess that'd make me the original Irish Rob, too.......SNAP!!

Oh yeah....I'm making that f*cking Whistler trip if I have to sleep in my car in the driveway of Fat Larry's and Skinny April's condo!!

So it looks like the Syncline ride isn't happening. You guys riding Saturday or Sunday? Post or Black Rock? I'm guessing Post Canyon will be a gong show because of the games this weekend...

robholio wrote

I think I'm going to do Syncline on Saturday and Post on Sunday. I wanna see if that Canfield is as fast as Kevin thinks it is...

robholio wrote

I was thinking of racing the Super D this weekend, but might just ride for fun instead. Not sure how bust the trails at Post will be with the Gorge Games, though....

Haven't ridden Black Rock in awhile either....Hmmmmm...

Broke my ankle and fractured 2 bones in my foot. I tried to ride willamette pass with only a front brake. I pinched my rear cable so all my fluid leaked out. I was going way to fast following some guy and couldnt see because of all the dust and did like a 5 foot drop but couldnt see the landing and i hit something big in the trail. Ankles suck man!

Watching DI Season 5 right now....Sick. Dude, the segment with Cam McCaul and Kathy Pruitt DH'ing is actually the DH run we've been doing at Post Canyon (they show a lot more of it on DVD). They're sneaky tossing that seggie into the Black Rock episode.....Hmmmm....

Uhm, just rode up and down the street on my 4X bike. I want to ride Family Man Loop on the 4th or ride the Mosier Tunnel Trail to Mosier for a challenge.

robholio wrote
July 3, 2008 at 19:58
Cool. I'll probably do what I did last time and just head to Family Man on Saturday morning and session Drop Out and Middle School until I hook up with a shuttle run.

The Barn Door is yours this weekend!! No-brainer, literally. Point it and drop like the second ladder on Drop Out. Done.

robholio wrote
July 3, 2008 at 10:00
So the big 4th ride is Post Canyon this round? Are you guys camping up in the Binns Hill MX staging area? Not sure I'll make it up for Friday, but will be there on Saturday for sure. We should try to squeeze in some Syncline runs, too...

Update on the comment below. We went and rode the same DH trails again, but today I was on the big bike. Manned-up and sent the Barn Door. Just didn't think about it and followed Pete Donley into it. Was pumped the rest of the ride. That drop is easier than the bypass trail around it. I went all the way to plywood front wheel first and it was still butter. Didn't even come close to bottoming the bike, you land going so fast...

The car's external temp gauge said 104 leaving Hood River. It didn't seem that bad today except on the quick hike-a-bike sections. Great day , indeed. Headed back out again with Pete Donley tomorrow. I'm gonna hit the Barn Door. Kicking myself for not doing it today when I knew I had it....

robholio wrote
June 27, 2008 at 21:27
I heard there was a fairly long DH trail there, maybe part of a moto trail or something. I know about the stuff from the top, but heard there was more there than what we always hit...

robholio wrote
June 27, 2008 at 21:19
I'll look for you guys at the bottom. If I don't see you guys I'll just drive my car up to Family Man and session Drop Out until you guys roll through and catch the 2nd run. Kinda interested in the long DH run I've been hearing about...

I am going to hit late for Dinner on the way home from work tonight and get in 4-5 runs.

The race was fun. I'm still a little slower than I'd like, but I shaved 11 seconds off of my second run riding my 4XXXX, and know exactly what I need to work on for the next one, etc. I just don't have the leg strength I did before I broke my leg, and have been lazy about the gym. Gotta fix that...

I got a "gimme podium," but I'll take 'em any way I can!!

The Race was fun the hike abike was a pain, but the ride was fun. The extra peddalling madeit more challenging. I ended up grabbing my wifes AM bike and ran it in the race. I moved up from begginers and Posted a 4.50 6th Sport. If I would have stayed in beginners I would have podiumed. Had the opportunity to meet some new folks as it was all pretty laid back. Gotta session LFD one day in the next few weeks.

Looks like you boys had a blast. I went out to Estes' place and hung out for a bit, then did a run with Miles at Post. The little marbles are back. I'm actually getting faster on the 4XXXX than on the Shore...Yeah yeah!!
